[Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori – XVII-XVIII Century AD; Marianella, Kingdom of Naples/Pagani, Kingdom of Naples; (aged 90); Bishop; spiritual writer, composer, musician, artist, poet, lawyer, scholastic philosopher, and theologian; Founder; Doctor of the Church] “III - Happiness deriving from perfect Uniformity. Acting according to this pattern, one not only becomes holy but also enjoys perpetual serenity in this life. Alphonsus the Great, King of Aragon, being asked one day whom he considered the happiest person in the world, answered: “He who abandons himself to the will of God and accepts all things, prosperous and adverse, as coming from his hands.’’ “To those that love God, all things work together unto good.” Those who love God are always happy, because their whole happiness is to fulfill, even in adversity, the will of God. Afflictions do not mar their serenity, because by accepting misfortune, they know they give pleasure to their beloved Lord: “Whatever shall befall the …More
"There is a story to this effect in the “Lives of the Fathers” about a farmer whose crops were more plentiful than those of his neighbors. On being asked how this happened with such unvarying regularity, he said he was not surprised because he always had the kind of weather he wanted. He was asked to explain. He said: “It is so because I want whatever kind of weather God wants, and because I do, he gives me the harvests I want.’’ If souls resigned to God’s will are humiliated, says Salvian, they want to be humiliated; if they are poor, they want to be poor; in short, whatever happens is acceptable to them, hence they are truly at peace in this life. In cold and heat, in rain and wind, the soul united to God says: “I want it to be warm, to be cold, windy, to rain, because God wills it.”

The museum Künstlerhaus in Vienna, Austria, is presenting an exhibition titled “You Shall Make Yourself an Image.” It opened in late October 2025 and runs through 8 February 2026. The exhibition features about 40 provocateurs (“artists”) mocking Christian imagery. Catholic organizations and online petitions describe the exhibit as “blasphemous,” “insulting,” and as mocking key Christian symbols such as the crucifixion and imagery of the Virgin Mary. Works criticized include: - A wolf dressed in liturgical garments - A crucified frog - Portrayals of Mary as a trans woman or other provocative reinterpretations The Austrian right-wing party FPÖ (Austrian Freedom Party) condemned the exhibition as “a scandalous mockery of Christianity” and demanded that it be shut down, especially since it runs during Advent and Christmas and receives public funding. On Monday, a group of Catholics gathered outside the museum to protest the exhibition, including an act of penance prayer. However, …More

Bishop Erik Varden of Trondheim told AcePrensa.com on December 9 that we are already living in a post-secular age, something especially evident in northern Europe. He said that people are turning to Catholicism "because it is true", as many grow disillusioned with other options. "With so much collapse — of old certainties and institutions — and the fragility of our political, cultural, ecological and financial lives, people are looking for parameters that promise to withstand the flood." Regarding the increase in attendance at Mass in the Roman rite, Bishop Varden noted that this is happening "in some places, not everywhere". It is linked to a search for beauty, which the Church can offer. He urged simply celebrating the liturgy well and follow the rubrics: "Do the red and say the black." Referring to the Chartres pilgrimage over Pentecost, he observed that the young participants were impossible to categorise, ranging from people who attend charismatic services to those who attend the …More

Pope Leo XIV published today an Apostolic Letter on archaeology. Marking 100 years since the founding of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, he described the discipline as “indispensable for understanding Christianity”: “Revelation is always history. If this is so, then understanding Revelation requires an adequate knowledge of the historical, cultural and material contexts in which it took place,” he wrote. The Pontifical Institute, founded in 1925, is led by German priest Stefan Heid. He is world-famous for his research showing that the early Church celebrated Holy Mass ad orientem.
Pope to Pontifical Institute of Archaeology: “By concentrating on the physical traces of faith, archeology educates us in a theology of the senses: a theology that knows how to see, touch, smell and listen. Christian archeology is a school of the senses. By examining stones, ruins and other artifacts, it teaches us that nothing touched by faith is insignificant.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán explains his stance on immigration, emphasizing that Hungary maintains “zero illegal immigration”. According to Orbán, anyone wishing to enter the country must request and receive permission beforehand, and no one can step onto Hungarian territory without it. He said that because Hungary blocks illegal immigration into both Hungary and the EU, the country faces EU financial sanctions—amounting, he claims, to one million euros per day. Orbán called this an example of the “absurd world” Europe is currently living in.
