Fides Et Ratio

In a constitutional republic like the United States, faithful Catholic presence in civil life directly serves the Church’s mission to defend life.
When nuns must approach the courts to protect the unborn, well-formed Catholics engaged in the political and legal process become essential allies. This recent case shows why informed civic participation is not optional, it is a concrete way to advance the Culture of Life.
As St. Augustine wrote in The City of God, the heavenly city, while a pilgrim on earth, “calls forth citizens from all peoples” and makes use of the earthly city’s laws and institutions to help secure the peace needed for its mission.
Deo gratias for Catholics who answer the call in both the City of God and the city of man.

Catholic Nuns Sue New York to Stop Coercive Assisted Suicide Law - LifeNews.com

In a courageous stand for faith, conscience, and dignity of the dying, four orders of Catholic nuns and several Catholic healthcare ministries sued New York on Friday over a new law that forces them to help terminally ill patients kill themselves in violation of their faith. In Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm v. James, Becket is asking a federal court to block the law before it takes effect on August 5, when healthcare providers who refuse to take part in assisted suicide will face crippling fines, professional sanctions, and criminal penalties. Follow LifeNews.com on Instagram for pro-life pictures and videos. For generations, Catholic healthcare ministries have been a refuge for the sick, elderly, and dying across New York. Guided by the belief that every life is a precious gift, nuns like the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict, and the Little Sisters of the Poor offer those nearing death …

Conservative US bishop calls FSSPX just another Protestant sect: In a YouTube video posted on 13 July, conservative Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield in Illinois, USA, said that the main problem with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X is their defiance of papal authority. 'By disobeying the Pope and rejecting the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X has essentially become another Protestant sect that believes it is right and the Pope is wrong.' Monsignor Paprocki also noted that, while there are currently 53,000 Christian denominations, Christ founded only one Church.

Bishop Paprocki on SSPX: "The Society of St. Pius X is now basically another Protestant sect that thinks they are right and the pope is wrong”

Justice concerning abortion

As a gardener, when the seeds I plant all come up, I ordinarily discard the excess sprouts in favor of the number I plan to care for. Some people carry such weeding out into the domain of human affairs, as with the practice of abortion. Among the participants of human “thinning” are those who hold that a woman has an option to select or discard those of her “seeds” that she doesn’t want. Advocates for aborting unwanted offspring have pushed and managed to get the law to do their bidding on this heartless practice. But I feel that while abortion promoters have succeeded in pulling the rug out from under the public, the majority of Americans have gotten up on their feet, wondering how on earth killing babies ever became legitimate. Sorry, I meant to say fetuses. But where does a fetus end and a baby begin? This is a question with no legitimate answer, for the process of conception-to-birth is a continuum with no organic borders. A human life begins and the process from start to completion is …

This is good and the same principle of "deciding what seeds to keep or waste" applies to modern NFP. Modern NFP intentionally plans sterile marital relations, calculating and hoping to "waste seed" in infertile soil. Modern NFP and abortion have essentially the same goal: the carnal pleasures of baby making acts without babies.

A wonderful short video with excellent Carmelite stories!

After 10 years of asking, a journalist was finally allowed inside the Carmelite Monastery in Christchurch, New Zealand. The story he got helped save countless souls who saw his final video. This is a portion of that final product.

A miracle in a photograph !!
Take a good look at this miraculous photo, it was taken in 1932, during one of the first Masses of a young German priest.
Here is the testimony of the old Priest Franz Keiser, German.
“This image is not a painting but a real photo. It is a grace that was given to a German priest, on the third day after his priestly ordination, on August 29, 1932.
Neither the priest who celebrated, nor the brother who served the Mass, nor his brother who took the photo saw what this shows in the most wonderful way. I know the priest who was given this grace and also the most precise circumstances and responded for its accuracy, as well as for the authenticity of the event.”
This image shows in plain sight what happens at each Mass, the renewal of the Sacrifice of the Cross.
For it is attested of him,
“You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Religious Sisters Calls Listening to Fetal Heartbeat "Torture": Chilean Dominican sister Licarayén Torres has called a proposed law requiring women to listen to a fetal heartbeat before an abortion “torture.” Speaking in a social media video on July 15, she criticized the Chilean “Listen to His Heart” bill, saying: “Is it Christian, is it evangelical to make women go through this obligation that some lawmakers want to impose?”

Leo XIV Visits Monte Cassino: Today, Pope Leo XIV made a private pilgrimage to the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Cassino, where he prayed at the tomb of St. Benedict, Patron Saint of Europe. Entrusting to the saint his plea for peace in regions torn by war and violence, the Pope joined the Benedictine community in prayer before sharing lunch with the monks.

Vance Praises 🤡 Francis as "Genius": In a recent interview with Bishop Robert Barron, U.S. Vice President JD Vance praised Pope Francis, saying: "I always liked the way Pope Francis would make bold statements in the media because it forced people to talk about them. Sometimes he would say things that made me think, 'Wait a second, is that consistent or correct?'" However, the politician concluded that Francis had "forced a dialogue, and he was kind of a genius at that".

Light Inside Monstrance for Artistic Effect A Madrid sacristan told Betania TV on July 15 that a priest used a light behind - or allegedly in place of - the consecrated Host during Eucharistic Adoration to create a more artistic visual effect. The sacristan said he was instructed to tape the light directly to the holder of the Host because placing it outside the glass did not produce the desired effect. He also urged priests not to "use Christ" for emotional effect.

Fr Pagliarani Letter: “The Unjust Condemnation Is Immense Humiliation”

On 19 July, from Menzingen, Switzerland, Fr Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX), issued another pastoral letter published on LaPorteLatine.org justifying the illicit consecration of bishops against the will of Pope Leo XIV. Key phrases (full letter below).
- "Until the very last day, I hoped for a gesture of goodwill—or at least of simple understanding—from the Holy See."
- "This condemnation, wholly unjust, represents an immense humiliation for people whose only desire is to defend the true Faith and to labor for the salvation of souls."
- " I want you to understand that this profound humiliation, which first affects the members of the Society, has a meaning in the eyes of God that must not escape you."
- "The sanctions are also intended to strike you in a rather cruel way."
- "If, in order to ensure for it the teaching of the true Faith and the administration of the true sacraments, it is necessary to pay the price of such humiliation …More

I entrust all of you to the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom the Society of Saint Pius X has been consecrated in a very special way. May she always protect you amid every storm and every difficulty, and may she keep alive that little flame burning in your souls whenever all the contrary winds rage against it.

You can point to problems elsewhere in the Church, with the popes, with the Germans, etc., but that does not make what the SSPX did right.
