Genesis 3:9-15, 20
“I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid.”
Fear (evil) is the cause of all our separations from God.
Fear; anguish, worry, anxiety…
Luke 1:26-38
The angel Gabriel says to Mary, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
God greets us in this way every day.

Second Week of Advent, Sunday

Second Week of Advent, Sunday
We continue posting daily Advent reflections by the Church Fathers. It's a good way to prepare to celebrate Christmas. The reflections and quotations come from the book titled, Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers by Marco Pappalardo.
Introduction
Praying is stretching a hand toward the Infinite. You are always heard. And no one ever really knows what he or she is asking. It is a loving dialogue between our own lowliness and the greatness of God. Our meager words, silence, abandonment, and meditation rise and go to the heavens. God will never hold back his hand when we turn to him with a sincere heart, with our limitations, and with our journey of faith.

Europe Is Dying – Allah's Willing Executioners

By J.B. Shurk
European civilization is dying. The Trump administration’s new
National Security Strategy makes this clear. It has squandered its post-WWII economic and military assistance from the United States by investing in centralized, socialist bureaucracies and expansive welfare States. By chasing the “climate change” con as a means for European governments to justify total control over the drivers of economic growth, European nations have forsaken cheap energy exploration, private entrepreneurship, and technological innovation. By depending upon the United States to defend its territorial interests, European nations have destroyed their military capabilities.
In an effort to “juice” their economies with cheap labor and artificial demographic growth, European nations have opened their borders to tens of millions of foreign immigrants. The natural result is that foreign cultures have steadily eroded and replaced millennia-old European cultures without much resistance. The Trump …

Dear Friends and Supporters!

YOU - the supporters and friends of Gloria.tv - have achieved something extraordinary. What we all could scarcely have imagined a decade ago has become a reality.
Gloria.tv has grown into a fully functional, multilingual social network for Catholics worldwide - with features such as processing media, sharing news, translation, subtitling, summarisation, video streaming, chat, etc.
Meanwhile, media outlets have declined in worrying ways, including traditional print and satellite TV, and most recently even editorial websites (including legacy media such as CNN and state outlets).
In this challenging environment, the development of social media technology by Gloria.tv, which enables users to speak, share, and evangelise for themselves, has proven essential. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the donors. We cannot thank you enough.
Please continue to support Gloria.tv. Together, let's build this platform for all those seeking Christian content and community.

Sun Dec 7th, Saint Ambrose of Milan

"There are three forms of the virtue of charity: the first is that of spouses, the second that of widows, and the third that of virgins. We do not praise any one of them to the exclusion of others...This is what makes for the richness of the discipline of the Church."

VILLAINS …

Canadian Catholic bishops have written to the federal government to oppose elements of Bill C-9, which would remove long-standing religious and “good-faith” exemptions in the Criminal Code’s hate-speech provisions. They argue that without these protections, quoting religious texts such as the Bible in sincere, non-malicious contexts might be seen as hate speech, creating uncertainty for clergy and faith communities. The bishops warn that removing the exemption could chill legitimate religious expression, even if actual prosecutions remain unlikely. The surrounding commentary criticizes the Liberal government and Bloc Québécois for supporting the change.

Canadians bishops pen letter to Liberal government in defence of religious freedom

The Canadians bishops have written a letter to the Liberal government in defence of religious freedom. The legislation introduced could be used to criminalize quoting the Bible as an act of "hate speech."
Bill C-9 would change the Criminal Code of Canada and make it possible for a believer who cites the Bible in good faith to be given a prison sentence for up two years. This is completely morally wrong. Christian roots go back in Canada to the very beginning of the nation's history.
Let's be direct: the legislation is mainly an attack on Christians and their beliefs. Who else follows and believes what the Bible teaches?
We have covered the issue in this blog post, Let's just say it: the Liberal Party of Canada and the Bloc have no respect for Christians.
The bishops in their message PM Mark Carney write,
On behalf of the Permanent Council of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), we write to you today to express deep concern regarding recent reports that your government, …

Peter Hitchens: The Myth About 'Saintly' Ukraine Is Now Exposed & Clear For All To See

Ukraine has lost its halo, as corruption charges swirl like an evil-smelling fog around its political elite, according to award-winning journalist and commentator Peter Hitchens.
For years, Ukraine been portrayed as a saintly nation, a paradise of freedom and democracy, the anti-Russia. Its even been said that Russian president Vladimir Putin fears that his own people would like to live there
This belief, which was always absurd to anyone who knew the region, has now collapsed as Ukrainian elite figures are exposed with bundles of banknotes under their beds and golden lavatories in their bathrooms, making unhealthy livings out of a supposed holy war.

Everything of Friday’s announcement indicates that this is deal is the complete capitulation of the Holy See to the Chinese Communist Party: The Vatican announced the resignation of Bishop Joseph Zhang Weizhu at age 67 as a bihop selected by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was consecrated as his successor. Although the Vatican now refers to Zhang as Bishop Emeritus and the CCP acknowledges this title, he remains under strict house arrest, isolated from his family and unable to attend the consecration ceremony.
All of this, the Vatican says, occurred within the framework of its secret Provisional Agreement with China.

Leo XIV Accepts Chinese Bishop Who Just Closed a Church

The Vatican announced the episcopal consecration of Monsignor Francesco Li Jianlin as the new bishop of the Prefecture of Xinxiang in Henan, China, on December 5.
The liturgy was held at the church of Weihui and celebrated by Bishop Li Shan of Beijing. He heads the state-controlled Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association.
Li Jianlin is the second bishop elected during the papal interregnum following the death of Pope Francis.
The appointment was formally approved by Pope Leo XIV on August 11. It comes with the acceptance of the “resignation” of the underground bishop Giuseppe Zhang Weizhu of Xinxiang.
Loyal Catholic Bishop Erased from Memory
The official Chinese report made no mention of papal approval and omitted any reference to Bishop Zhang Weizhu. Appointed in 1991, he was never recognized by Beijing. For decades he faced arrests, restrictions, and suppression because he refused to join the Patriotic Association.
One notable episode occurred in 2021, when police dismantled a clandestine …More

First Reading (Isaiah 30:19-21, 23-26)
A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah.
Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel: 19 “People of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem, you will have no reason to weep: he will be moved at the sound of your cry; as soon as he hears you, he will answer you. 20 The Lord will surely give you the bread of affliction and the water of affliction; your teacher will no longer depart from you; your eyes will see him, 21 and your ears will hear a word of warning behind you: ‘This is the way for all; walk in it,’ without turning to the right or to the left. 23 He will give you rain for the seed you have sown in the ground, and the fruit of the ground will be abundant and rich; in that day your flock will graze in vast pastures, 24 your oxen and the animals that till the ground will eat salted fodder, cleaned with shovel …More

Nate offers a brief reflection to help make our love for Our Lady concrete in daily living. The title "No Greater Delight" is inspired by a homily of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, wherein he expresses his joy in preaching about the Virgin Mother, even though he acknowledges the challenge of adequately praising her.
