Bethlehem, West Bank, May 25, 2014 / 04:04 am (CNA).- In his homily delivered in Bethlehem this morning, Pope Francis meditated on the role of the Christ child in the life of every person.
“The child Jesus, born in Bethlehem, every child who is born and grows up in every part of our world, is a diagnostic sign indicating the state of health of our families, our communities, our nation,” the Pope preached on May 25 in Manger Square in Bethlehem.
Celebrating mass on the site of Jesus’ birth, Pope Francis delivered strong words in condemnation of every kind of violence and exploitation against children, including trafficking, slavery, and abortion.
Pope Francis was joined at mass by leaders of the Syro-Catholic, Coptic Catholic & Maronite Catholic Churches, as well as nearly 250 priests and 48 bishops.

Catholic family branded 'bigoted' for not wanting a homosexual couple to adopt their kid

Photo ~ Judge: Yesterday, the country's most senior family judge, Sir James Munby, upheld the adoption plan, but criticised the social workers for the way they condemned the parents because of their views
A Catholic family were labelled bigots by social workers after they complained about the adoption of their children by a gay couple.
The parents, of Slovak Roma origin, protested after they discovered that their two youngest boys, aged four and one, were not going to be adopted by the Roman Catholic family they had asked for.
They claimed the gay adoption would humiliate the children and deprive them of their Roma heritage and Catholic faith, and said the decision amounted to ‘social engineering’.
The row comes at a time when social workers are under pressure from the Government to abandon rules which have meant that adopted children can be placed only with new families of the same ethnic or cultural background.
The doctrine has been blamed for preventing ethnic minority children from …More

Omar Abboud, the Argentinean Muslim who will accompany Francis in the Holy Land, describes the Pope’s decision to have a Jew and Muslim accompany him as “one of the strongest gestures” the world has seen
“It’s a long time since the world has had such a strong spiritual leader”, Omar Abboud, the Muslim from Buenos Aires who will accompany the Pope on his “pilgrimage of prayer” in the Holy Land, told me on the eve of the Francis’ departure for the Holy Land.
He described the Pope’s decision to invite a Jew and a Muslim to accompany him on his three-day visit to Amman, Bethlehem and Jerusalem as “one of the strongest gestures that has been seen, and it seems to me that it is on a universal scale given that he makes it in the most conflictive region of the planet”.
“He has always been a man of action, and this gesture demonstrates that. And now as Holy Father, of course, he is committed to dialogue, but it’s not up to him to resolve the conflicts, rather it is up to the political conjuncture …More

ON THE EAST BANK OF THE JORDAN RIVER — After visiting a site on Saturday where Jesus is believed to have been baptized, Pope Francis spoke about Jesus’s humility, “the fact that he bends down to wounded humanity in order to heal us.”
On Sunday morning, Francis is to become the first pope to travel directly into the Israeli-occupied West Bank, underscoring the Vatican’s support for the 2012 United Nations resolution making Palestine a nonmember observer state. Palestinians have trumpeted the visit to the “State of Palestine,” as the Vatican website also describes it, and will use the pope’s time in Bethlehem to highlight hardships under Israeli occupation.
He will also be the first pontiff to lay a wreath on the grave of Theodor Herzl, the father of modern Zionism, a boon to Israelis more than a century after Pope Pius X harshly rejected Herzl’s appeal for …More

FLORHAM PARK New Jersey — A Catholic priest at the Florham Park-based Vocationist Fathers Retreat and Conference Center has been accused of threatening to kill a fellow priest and attacking him with a metal crucifix.
Father Frank Hreno is accused of threatening to kill fellow priest Emeka Okwuosa during an altercation at the Vocationist Fathers Retreat and Conference Center in Florham Park last month.
Video
Okwuosa also alleged Hreno stabbed him in the arm with the crucifix, though Hreno has not been charged with assault, CBS New York reports, citing a criminal complaint.
The dispute started over the use of a vehicle, police said.
After the incident, Hreno was charged with making terroristic threats, and released on his own recognizance by Municipal Court Judge Gary Troxell with a condition of not having any contact with Okwuosa, police said.

Under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority, an art exhibit mashing-up Biblical images by European masters with contemporary photos of Palestinians suffering under Israeli occupation has been especially prepared for next week’s visit to the region by Pope Francis, it was reported on Thursday.
The Palestinian Museum — an institution scheduled to open in Birzeit in 2015 — presents images of Jesus as a modern Palestinian, according to a Palestinian Media Watch report. It reinforces the “PA message [that] that Palestinians suffer as Jesus did” and by “claiming he was not a Judean as in Christian tradition, but rather a Palestinian,” the PA therefore claims “a Palestinian history dating back to the time of Jesus.”

Cardinal Pietro Parolin holds a role in the Vatican City State, located in the Italian capital of Rome, equivalent to that of a prime minister.
The Vatican's Secretary of State made a dramatic revelation ahead of Pope Francis's visit to Israel next Sunday and Monday, declaring that the pope will talk about the "Palestinian people's right to have a homeland, sovereign and independent."
When asked what the pope particularly intends to talk about during the visit, Parolin revealed he would talk about "on the one hand, Israel's right to exist in peace and security within internationally recognized boundaries."
On the other side, the pope would talk about "the Palestinian people's right to have a homeland, sovereign and independent, the right to move around freely, the right to live in dignity," according to Parolin.

Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine, but Father Bill Miller --a writer, bar owner and Episcopal priest -- argues it could have gone another way.
"If Jesus had lived in Texas, for example, where I'm from, or Hawaii where I live now, rather than Palestine, I'm pretty sure he would've turned that water into beer," Miller told FoxNews.com.
Video
Miller has seen firsthand how beer can bring people together. He said there is a new movement called "Theology on Tap," where ministers are taking the church to the pubs. "I would say that a lot of my best pastoral ministry has occurred in the bar because some people will not set foot in a church, but they might strike up a conversation with me in the bar."
Dr Bobus
Drinking beer is fine, but the phrase Episcopal priest is an oxymoron.

Will the pope’s visit to Israel improve Jewish-Christian relations?

Photo ~ Try not to look up to him
FOR Jerusalem’s Jewish municipality, the photograph of a merry pope in a white skullcap waving at passing crowds from the walls of the Christian Information Centre was a step too far. Officials asked the Franciscan fathers who run the place to take it down. The monks said they could not in good conscience oblige, and invited the police to do it themselves. The police diplomatically stayed away. The municipal authorities did not opine.
Pope Francis’s visit to Israel on May 25th is stirring ambivalence, if not soul-searching, about the Israeli state’s attitude to other religions, particularly Christianity. The education ministry shows scant interest in the teaching of other religions to Jews. But ahead of the pope’s visit it has prepared material for schools highlighting Pope John XXIII’s intervention, as a wartime papal nuncio in Istanbul, to save Jews from the Holocaust by issuing false baptismal certificates. “Normally we learn about Christianity only …More

Rome (kath.net) Pope Francis has excommunicated the President of the anti-Roman platform "We are Church," Martha Heizer (67), and her husband, Gert. This was reported by the "Tiroler Tageszeitung" on Thursday. Because the two Tyroleans regularly simulated Eucharistic celebrations, which is a serious offense ("delictum gravius") so were faced with excommunication, ie, they are excluded from the Church's sacraments. Bishop Scheuer wanted yesterday evening to deliver Rome's decree, but this was rejected by both. The President of the platform "We are Church" and those who helped launch the Church referendum were "shocked by the intervention" of Rome.

‘Every Person Needs a Male Father and a Female Mother’
(CNSNews.com) – ...the Pope has rejected the idea of same-sex marriage as an “anthropological regression” and stressed that when it comes to adoption, “every person needs a male father and a female mother.”
Pope Francis explained his views on these hot-button issues in his book, On Heaven and Earth: Pope Francis on Faith, Family, and the Church in the Twenty-First Century,
“We know that in times of momentous change the homosexual phenomenon grew, but in this period it is the first time that the legal problem of assimilating it to marriage has arisen, and this I consider an anti-value and an anthropological regression,” says the Pope. “I say this because it transcends the religious issue, it is anthropological.”
“If there is a union of a private nature, there is neither a third party nor is society affected,” he writes. “Now, if the union is given the category of marriage and they are given adoption rights, there could be children …More

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-lifer, revealed on Facebook how a young woman she was counseling was being pressured by her boyfriend to abort their baby. The young mother, however, had a change of heart and asked the clinic workers to show her her ultrasound. They refused, and that's when she texted Johnson to tell her they had locked her in a room. Here is Johnson's horrifying account of how the young woman was held in the clinic against her will:
She went to the Buffalo Women’s Services tonight for an ultrasound only. As a 15 year old girl, she is very swayed by the opinions of her boyfriend…who does not want her to have anything to do with the pregnancy center in her area. It is not uncommon for private abortion clinics to see patients late at night. In fact, here in Austin, we have a doctor that starts his abortion procedures sometimes at 10pm. She asked to see her ultrasound and the clinic absolutely refused. She decided then that they were obviously …More

Here’s the real reason why the gay homosexual (ED) activists are winning: because Americans have forgotten or been brainwashed to forget that there is such a thing as objective truth. Truth has been relativized completely.
What is right and wrong is not now determined by either natural law or divinely revealed law. Instead what is right or wrong is determined by the three secular virtues. The new yardstick is not “is it morally right or wrong according to natural law and divine law” but “does it make me feel sad or happy?” “Does it work? Is it effective?” and “Is everybody being equal and is everyone being tolerant?” If something makes you feel happy, seems to be useful and doesn’t seem to discriminate against anyone, then it’s okay.
It is clear that this problem is not unique to the homosexual debate. Indeed, these secular virtues determine most all moral decisions made by Americans–from politicians in highest positions of power down to the decisions made by individuals on what they …More

The reason they are winning is that America has forgotten that law is based on morals, not “fairness”. And, the moral base that was previously agreed upon was the Bible. It did not require that we kill homosexuals (any longer, since that was the Mosaic Law), but it clearly set out that adultery, homosexuality, dishonesty, thievery, murder, even gossip were wrong and not to be encouraged. The society has abandoned this view and taken up a non-existent, mish-mash of competing claims as the new moral foundation. Collapse will likely follow.
But, actually, the public is directing this march into oblivion. And, many of the so-called Christian organizations are falling into the same hole. We no longer look to the Scriptures to guide our lawmaking, we look to degenerate opinion.

Israel has clamped down on potential troublemakers in the days leading up to Pope Francis’ historic visit to the Holy Land on May 24-26.
According to a report released today by Reuters, Israeli police and the Shin Bet internal security service handed restraining orders to several Jewish right-wing activists whom they believed intended to cause “disruptions during the pope’s visit and be involved in provocative illegal acts.”
The restraining orders issued today will bar activists from certain areas, such as the area surrounding the Cenacle–which is believed to be the site of the Last Supper, and which some Jewish activists believe to be the burial site of King David.
According to the Financial Times, another major protest had been planned for May 22, just before the pope’s visit. Today’s restraining order will …More

During his upcoming visit to the Holy Land, as a matter of protocol as the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis is scheduled to meet with Israel's two chief rabbis and the most senior religious figure in the PA, the Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Hussein.
The Pope and the Mufti promote messages that are fundamentally opposed: the Pope preaches love and peace for all of mankind, while the Mufti preaches hatred and violence against "the enemies of Allah." In 2012 for example, the Mufti taught that Muslim destiny is to kill the Jews. During another speech he taught that Jews were "enemies of Allah," and also said the souls of homicide bombers "tell us to follow in their path."
