Active Shooter Training for US Clergy

The Gloucester Township Police Department, Massachusetts, is hosting a free active shooter training event for local clergy on December 4 according to CBS Philly.

Its aim is to help clergy become “better prepared” in case an active shooter situation happens at their church.

This comes after Devin Patrick Kelley gunned down 26 people at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, earlier this month.

Churches are considered "soft targets" by any criminal or ISIS terrorist type. Despite this, it's not likely that many clerics will go for the gun training. As for the laity, those with a CCW permit can carry but ought to shut up about it.

I understand the very real concern after that (latest) nightmare, but this is just one more asinine distraction. They've been talking in our area on local radio in our area asking whether you would want people in the congregation with "concealed carry" permits. Some churches, it was said, have visible security. There's no doubt that a shooter would see a church congregation as "sitting ducks" unlikely armed.
