Roof of Baroque Church Partly Collapsed – New Rite Altar Destroyed

Part of the ceiling of Ta’ Giezu church in Rabat, Malta, collapsed during the night on August 23 according to local media. The very beautiful baroque church belongs to the Franciscan Friars.

The reason for the collapse was the worm-eaten wooden beams which hold the ceiling. The debris smashed the new rite altar. A big drawing on the ceiling was destroyed. Nobody was hurt.
