DoD Launches New 5G Smart Warehouse Network at Naval Base

American opposition to 5G has been ongoing for years due to various significant risks associated with it including aviation safety risks (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), cybersecurity risks (see 1, 2, 3, 4), environmental risks (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), health risks (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), privacy risks (see 1, 2, 3), weather forecasting satellite interference risks, and utility infrastructure interference risks.  In 2019, telecom executives gave U.S. congressional testimony that they had NO independent scientific evidence that 5G is safe.  Some researchers have also suggested that deployment may be contributing to COVID-19 infections and hundreds of thousands if not millions of bird deaths.  Of course, others say it’s not.  Nevertheless, there are health risks associated with 5G exposure as well as exposure to 4G and other sources of wireless Wi-Fi radiation (see 1, 2) and Electromagnetic Fields (aka “Electrosmog”).  In fact, last year, a federal court ruled in favor of organizations and petitioners that sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for NOT adequately protecting Americans from wireless radiation exposure (including 5G).  Nevertheless, the Biden Administration continues to promote and fund 5G and WiFi deployment and expansion (see 1, 2, 3) as does the Department of Defense (DoD).

DoD Helps 5G Smart Warehouse “Set Sail” at Coronado Naval Base

Last week, the Department of Defense (DoD) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its 5G Smart Warehouse Network in Coronado, CA. According to a release, the 5G Smart Warehouse Network is located at Coronado’s Naval Base and is part of the agency’s 5G-Next G initiative. The project is the DoD’s use-case incorporating 5G capabilities for trans-shipments between shore facilities and naval units.

The project, part of the department’s $600 million commitment to 5G experiments, includes partnerships between the DoD, various military units, and industry partners.

“This is a key example of organizations coming together in a collaborative environment with our Armed Forces to explore the art of the possible in 5G,” said Amanda Toman, acting Principal Director of 5G-NextG, OUSD (R&E). “DoD is working to accelerate the development and deployment of 5G-enabled capabilities across many use cases while ensuring those systems…are robust, protected, and reliable.”

The Smart Warehouse aims to “increase the efficiency and fidelity of naval logistic operations including identification, recording, organization, storage, retrieval, and the transportation of material and supplies.” The ribbon-cutting event included demonstrations of the 5G Radio Access Network and its optimization of warehouse operations via increased throughput of data, Internet of Things support, and low latency.

“This technology is critical to U.S. national and economic security,” said Captain Timothy A. Brown, Commanding Officer, Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center San Diego. “As one of the first sites funded to test this technology for the U.S. military, we will help map 5G development and DoD strategies moving into the future.”


Opposition to 5G is worldwide and this has limited, slowed and/or stopped deployment in some locations including in the U.S.  Since 2017 doctors and scientists have asked for moratoriums on Earth and in space (see 1, 2) and the majority of scientists oppose deployment.  Since 2018 there have been reports of people and animals experiencing symptoms and illnesses after it was activated (see 1, 2. 3, 4, 5).

Experts have also been warning for years about various significant risks associated with Internet of Things (IoT) applications as well (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
