Saint Nepotian of Clermont
Also known as
- Nepoziano
- Népotien
- Nepotianus
Profile
Priest. Bishop of Clermont, France in 386. We know almost nothing about his life and work.
Tradition says that in 395 he received imperial representatives as part of the investigation of the Priscilliantists. One of the representatives, Artemius, fell ill, and Nepotian healed him by anointing him with holy oil and praying for him. Artemius was so moved by this that he renounced his worldly position, gave away his fortune, entered the diocesan clergy, and succeeded Saint Nepotianus as bishop of Clermont.
