Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust’s biennial Nave Dinner has successfully raised funds to support the cathedral.

This year’s dinner, which took place on Friday 14 June, was circus themed and over three hundred people attended the event. Throughout the evening entertainment was provided by Benji the Magician and Wye Circus CIC, whose spectacular stilt walkers and trapeze artists wowed the audience. Grace was sung by Hereford Cathedral Choir, who have just returned from the D Day Commemorations in Normandy, before guests enjoyed a three course meal provided by A to Zest. The evening ended with an auction of thirteen lots which had been donated to the Trust from a range of charitable benefactors from across the county.

The dinner, was generously sponsored by BMW & Cotswold MINI Hereford, both significant supporter of charities in Herefordshire. Over the last few years, their support of the Trust’s events has enabled substantial funding to have been raised in support of the many projects and activities in the cathedral, including restoration works, community education and music provision.

Erica Manley, Perpetual Trust Events Coordinator, said; “We would like to say a huge thank you to the many local businesses who have supported this event. It is this generosity that enables so much to be achieved here at the cathedral.”

Glyn Morgan, Chief Executive of the Perpetual Trust, said; “Buildings and institutions such as the cathedral take a phenomenal amount of money to maintain, repair and conserve as well as the running costs of the music and education departments. However, we know that the cathedral, in so many guises, plays a vital part in our community and economic life, whether bringing together people for great commemorations or attracting visitors to the region to visit the building. It is all part of our mission and ministry and we are glad that the funds raised at the Nave Dinner will further support this.”

The Perpetual Trust was founded in 1995 and has to raise over £500,000 each year to support the annual running costs of the cathedral, along with many of the special projects it funds.
