Mater Dei Seminary’s Free Monthly Newsletter
January 2024: Letter from the Rector: During the Christmas season, our seminarians returned home and the seminary was peacefully quiet for two weeks. Our priests will be traveling extensively this Christmas season covering multiple Mass circuits. This year the 4th Sunday of Advent was the Vigil of Christmas and was followed by Christmas the next day and the following Sunday was followed by the feast of the Circumcision. The seminarians have returned and the seminary schedule has returned to normal, with some exceptions due to the severe winter weather. The Scapular Promise. Our Winter 2024 issue. Autumn has come and gone. A season of rich fullness and of dying. Warm colors against grey skies. Bountiful harvest amid the beautiful frost. As the leaves turn vivid colors they are the focus for many an art project, or just for marveling in appreciation of God’s handwork. In consonance with the themes of harvest and gratitude that distinguish this season on the natural level come the harvest feasts of the Church: Mary’s Assumption, Christ the King, All Saints and All Souls: “From all the saints in warfare, for all the saints at rest: to Thee, O Blessed Jesus, all praises be addressed!”...
Upcoming novenas: Our Lady of Lourdes (Feast: February 11).
