Profile
Son of a pagan nobleman; relative of Saint Arnulf of Metz who was instrumental in Bertulf converting to Christianity. Monk at Luxeuil Abbey in 620. Monk and, in 627, third abbot of the monastery in Bobbio, Italy. Known for his strict adherence to the Rule of Saint Columbanus, and his outspoken preaching against Arianism, and as a miracle worker and healer. Reported by a brother monk to have been miraculously cured of a fever by the intercession of Saint Peter the Apostle.

- interred next to Saint Colombanus in the church at the abbey of Saint Colombano, Bobbio, Provincia di Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italy
- re-interred in 1482 in a stone sarcophagus in the crypt of the basilica of Saint Colombano built over the site of the old church
- altar, crypt and shrine were refurbished and the re-opened to the public in 1910
