UPDATED: Incoming IU freshman dies before arriving on campus

IU freshman Devyn “Dev” Williams died unexpectedly Aug. 19 due to natural causes during a vacation before she was able to move into campus, according to an obituary written by her family.

Williams attended North Central High School where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook her senior year. Williams planned to pursue a career in health care after she was accepted to IU.

Williams is survived by her parents Dennis Williams Jr. and Angela Lacy, as well as her siblings.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Indianapolis. The funeral mass will be Aug. 28 at 11 a.m.
