  • 1760 : The British liner HMS Ramillies ran aground at Bolt Head near Plymouth , England after a navigational error . Around 700 crew members die, only 26 can save themselves. It is one of the worst non-war shipping accidents in English waters.

2013: Chelyabinsk meteor explosion
  • 2013 : A meteor enters the earth's atmosphere near Chelyabinsk and explodes 30 to 50 kilometers above the ground. The subsequent shock wave damaged around 3,500 buildings. 1491 people are injured by flying glass fragments. It is the largest meteor since the entry of the Tunguska meteorid .
