Piazza San Pietro.

The obelisk in the centre of St Peter's Square was brought from Alexandria, c 37 and stood in the centre of Nero's circus which was on this site. Here, St Peter was martyred for his faith in Christ and buried, and later a Basilica was built to mark his grave. Today the obelisk, crowned by a Cross, marks the most famous square in the world! The twin fountains represent Scripture and Tradition, the twin sources of divine revelation through Christ.
