Dubia Time! Leo XIV Rejects Co-Redemptrix AND Also “Mediatrix of All Graces”
Soft porn author Tucho Cardinal Fernández rejected on Tuesday in a doctrinal note the Marian title of “Co-Redemptrix” but also of “Mediatrix of all Graces”.
The note is entitled “Mater Populi Fidelis” (Mother of the Faithful People).
The reason given is this: "This title risks obscuring Christ’s unique salvific mediation and can therefore create confusion and an imbalance in the harmony of the truths of the Christian faith".
Sixty years after Vatican II, endless Vatican word salad and the Synod on Synodality, the most ironic and iconic phrase in Tucho’s document is this: "When an expression requires repeated explanations to prevent it from straying from its correct meaning, it does not serve the faith of the People of God and becomes unhelpful."
The Co-redemption and Mediatrix theology has been taught for centuries.
In 1908 the Vatican’s Congregation of Rites expressed the wish that -- “the devotion of the Sorrowful Mother may increase and the piety of the faithful and their …More
So, when are we applying this logic to "synodality", then?
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who would enter to go in. -- Matthew 23:13
“In this case, the expression ‘Co-redemptrix’ does not help extol Mary as the first and foremost collaborator in the work of Redemption and grace, for it carries the risk of eclipsing the exclusive role of Jesus Christ,” according to the doctrinal note
These venerable titles have always meant dependence on Christ, BVM’s supreme participation in the one true Mediator — only heretics have ever construed these titles as “eclipsing Christ.” Apparently Tucho is diminishing well-worked out titles because Chick Tracts exist.
@Sally Dorman Exactly! The objection from Tucho and Pope Leo XIV is consistent with the confused Protestant minimization of the role of the Blessed Mother. Both of these Modernists are infected with the diabolically aligned beliefs of the Second Vatican Council's false ecumenism. All we can do is pray for them.
Mathew 3:7
"BREED OF VIPERS"
Galatians 1:8-9 ; "But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any “good news” other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed. As we have said before, so I now say again: if any man preaches to you any “good news” other than that which you received, let him be cursed."
I’m sure they spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation to other gods, specifically the spirit of this world to assist them in making this important decision.
@Anthony November... hundreds and hundreds of Marian apparitions and never once has the phony mary condemned abortion. not even once, NEVER.
@Chris it is theologically incorrect to call the Trinity 3 Gods in one as you do above. Fix that first then we’ll talk Mary.
@Anthony November OK. 1 God in 3 persons. OK lets talk about Mary. I believe in the Biblical and Catholic Blessed Virgin Mary. I believe that the famous apparitions are phony because they never, never preach against abortion, no one time ever. I consider that fact as proof of falsity of the apparitions.
Matt 2:18 has the real female hero..."
“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”"
I crafted a lengthy response to your comment but deleted it because I realize you are not serious about this topic. Troll somewhere else.
JMJ Why Our Lady is Co-Redemptrix’. This is from the Divine Will prospective all errors my own. Our Lady never once did her own will from the moment of her Immaculate Conception to her Assumption. Our Lady chose to live exclusively in God’s Divine Will. The one Divine Will that the Holy Trinity operates undivided and in perfect unity. Jesus Christ had two Wills Human and Divine Will. (Dyothelitism (Greek, duo, “two”), which holds that Christ has two wills—one divine and one human, since he is fully God and fully man.) Jesus Christ never exercised His human will but only the Will of His Father, the Divine Will. So Our Lady and Our Lord both lived and operated in the one same Divine Will. So the magnificence of Our Lady is attributed solely to Our Lady operating perfectly in His Divine Will. Our Lady therefore was fused and one with Our Lord united in the Divine Will in all His (redemptive) acts from the Incarnation to Death. Fused in each other Our Lord and Our Lady achieved everything exclusively in the Divine Will. Therefore Our Lady is ‘Co-Redemptrix’.
Only someone with an extremely low IQ could fail to see the truth in the term "Co-Redemptrix" - did Our Lady co-operate or not co-operate in God's plan of salvation - redemption...? Uniquely? Nobody needs a Degree in Theology to answer that simple question. Here's a response to it from a former Protestant:
"By bringing Christ into the world, raising Him from infancy, and offering Him up to the Father at the foot of the cross, Mary participates uniquely in Christ’s salvation of the world, on account of which the Church titles her ‘Co-Redemptrix.’ As a Protestant, this was one of the Catholic terms that most disturbed me, not only because it seemed to imply that Mary was equal to Jesus, but also because it seemed to detract from the work of Christ, as though His work was neither sufficient nor unique. I later came to see that properly understood, not only does the doctrine do neither of those things, in fact it exalts Christ and His work more than I had even imagined."
I haven’t been into Gloria TV much lately, and have noticed it seems to have become dominated by the same 15-20 people, who appear to have nothing better to do than post and comment all day. And so many people seem to have gone. Whatever happened to @English Catholic, @billy F, @lancs1 . . . I noted a couple of other accounts have disappeared as well. I do recall a private conversation where someone else who has now left Gloria TV said they were sick of the constant trolling. So sad for a supposedly Catholic website . .
@Patricia McKeever well what you describe is a two-edged sword. 1) without regular posters the site becomes defunct quickly, 2) yes, there are several people who post daily (I'm one) and some can hijack the conservation and quickly take threads off-topic. This happens a lot with controversial subjects such as the Jews, Trump, etc. Yes, this can make the experience frustrating and unpleasant. I've been part of a couple of sites that imploded due to trolls - Angelqueen & Fisheaters Forum specifically.
@Orthocat - yes, I agree about the double-edged sword and it is important to be able to correct the errors which we find even (?especially) on allegedly Catholic blogs like this one. There are, however, on this site, it seems to me, an unusually high number of headcases, and savaging the Jews is a huge problem for me. Our Lord loves the Jews and St Paul teaches that the Gentiles and the Jews will come to Christ by the end of the world, so we should never disrespect them in any way, let alone take the side of those who are open in their goal of exterminating the Jews and taking over the Holy Land. Kiss goodbye to any chance of visiting the Christian Holy Sites if that ever happens. The Muslims are our enemy, not the Jews.
Indeed, I am finding that the commentators on the Jewish podcasts discussing the ongoing war (as declared by Hamas) are much more measured and educated in their commentary than the other side who are so full of hatred for the Jews and Israel that they just cannot hide it and their talks do not make sense. They believe the baloney from the mainstream media (with the BBC now proven to have peddled falsehoods about the alleged genocide etc) and don't question anything, just continue with their anti-Catholic Jew-hatred for which they will be called to account at their judgment.
Anyway, I do agree with you that sites like this would become defunct if nobody (with any sense, especially a true Catholic sense) contributed. I will try to visit more often, so take that as a promise or a threat, as you see fit
