Several years ago a mysterious large rock in northern Ontario was uncovered after a tree fell. There was a carving on the rock. It surprised even archaeologists. Today the research carries on to try to better understand what was discovered. On the large rock, the place not far from Wawa, there were 255 symbols carved characters in an area of about 4 feet by five and next to the letters there was a carving of a boat with 16 people on it, including 14Xs. What did all this mean? Ryan Primrose, the archaeologist and the director of the Ontario Centre for Archaeological Education, recognized the 255 characters as Nordic runes. It was an old Scandinavian alphabet know as Futhark. Primrose contacted Henrik Williams, a professor at Uppsala University in Sweden who is a leading expert in runology. The conclusion: the runic writing were the words of The Lord's Prayer in Swedish, and traced it was back to 1611where there is evidence of a runic version of the prayer. Primrose believes the carving …
This past weekend we witnessed a stunt between Rome and Constantinople that tried to make it look like something merely as piddly as eternal dogma on the Trinity was the block between unification of East and West. I commented on Twitter: “The goal of all this is to make us all Unitarians, not to clarify the Trinity. The most solid Eastern Orthodox I know out there believe their differences with me on the Filioque actually MATTER. That’s because they put objective truth ahead of this false-ecumenism.” I then added: “And yes, I know the Filioque was added late in the Creed. That’s a totally different debate from whom the Holy Spirit actually proceeds from… which is then a totally different debate from if the Trinity actually matters (which it does to the best of the Orthodox—but not to leftists like Patriarch Bart or Leo.)” Below is a reprint of my earlier article on my main site explaining why the Filioque still matters more than Rome capitulating on her own teaching for a fake-union …
"I thank you for your selfless dedication to the faith. I know what it means to share in the trials that affect the Church. Yet God holds everything in his loving hands." This is one of the many encouraging messages that Gloria.tv receives from its donors and friends (alongside the occasional hostile note). For nearly two decades, Gloria.tv has been here — steady as a lantern in a windy night — regardless of the circumstances or how much was donated. However, the truth is that almost every year in December, we struggle just to land at zero. We never imagined the fighting Church without Gloria.tv. We’re not ready to imagine that now, either. We've always found a way forward, and we believe we will again — even amid rising costs for everything. With your help. Please consider taking part in our Advent fundraising campaign (we need to raise about €30,000). Gloria.tv depends on your support. You can donate with credit card or PayPal via: kindful Gloria.tv has survived financially because …More

Migrant virtual signaling is on fire amongst the U.S. bishops. The latest installment comes from Bishop Michael Fisher from the diocese of Buffalo: The Buffalo Catholic Diocese is amplifying calls for compassion for immigrants through a pastoral letter drawing on more than 130 years of Catholic social teaching. Bishop Michael Fisher’s letter reinforces a message from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops calling to end “de-humanizing rhetoric” and violence against immigrants. Meanwhile, victims of sexual abuse within the diocese of Buffalo are still waiting for justice after 5 years of lawsuits: “This is way out of line. This is taking way too long,” said Richard Brownell, a victim of sex abuse in the church. “I think that the church has not done everything that they could do to settle this in a timely manner.” “Being a child and being sexually abused and raped from the ages of 7 to 11, it affects you through your whole life,” said Gary Astridge, a survivor of sex abuse …
Knoxville Bishop Mark Beckman, USA, has "explained" his restriction of the Mass in the Roman Rite. In a November 25 letter (below), he acknowledges receiving "numerous communications and even petitions from so many" faithful asking for the Mass. Key point: The Mass will be abolished in parish churches and will continue only once a month at the chapel of a retreat center in Benton. Monsignor Beckman reports that he received communication from the Dicastery for Divine Worship instructing him to “personally revisit the direction set by Pope Francis in Traditionis Custodes in 2021.” During the summer, Monsignor Beckman returned to his reflections on the Dicastery’s communication: “In conversation only days ago with our nuncio, Cardinal Christophe Pierre, he affirmed that the Motu Proprio remains the normative guide.” According to Bishop Beckman, it became clear “that the desire of the Holy Father was that we move in the direction of re-establishing" the Novus Ordo. He adds: “Current …More
