New US Bishops’ President Distances Himself from Viganò

Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City was elected president of the US bishops' conference on Tuesday. This was widely expected given his role as conference secretary and his long-standing membership of various committees.
Coakley won by only 128 to 109 votes over Bishop Daniel Flores of Brownsville, Texas. The surprise was how close Flores came to Coakley.
Both Coakley and Flores, who serves a border diocese, are champions for illegal immigrants.
On 12 November, OSVNews.com asked Archbishop Coakley, the newly elected president, about his support for the former US nuncio, Archbishop Carlo Viganò, in a 2018 letter.
Monsignor Coakley replied: “I didn’t know Archbishop Viganò other than what I knew of him from walking these halls here at bishops’ meetings. He was always a gentleman, he was always supportive, he always showed an interest in how things are going in our dioceses.
My comments when he was initially being criticized, and allegations being leveled against him, were meant to …More

After the news of the rehiring of the two IOR officials who were fired last year by the Vatican bank for getting married beyond the Tiber, a question circulates: who will compensate the couple for all the suffering endured? "After managing to assert their rights, with a considerable expenditure of economic resources and physical and mental energy, who will compensate the couple for the damages suffered simply for starting a family? Unfortunately, in the Vatican, the losing party is not required to reimburse the legal expenses to the winning party, as is the case in Italy, according to the principles established by articles 91, 92, and 96 (the latter of 'aggravated liability') of the Code of Civil Procedure," noted the Vatican's internal union (ADLV) in a note released in recent days, pointing out that in the face of an injustice, there would be no protective instruments available to employees. "At the moment, the only alternative is to embark on an odyssey that could last years, with …More

Officials in Florida quietly launched a secret project, pouring millions into a last-ditch effort. They sent hundreds of robotic rabbits into the heart of the Everglades. Each machine was built to mimic a live rabbit, from its body heat to its unique scent, all to trap the pythons that have destroyed the ecosystem. But the swamp doesn't follow human rules. The robots worked... too well. They didn't just find the pythons. They found something else. And what happened next is, frankly, insane.

25,000 BARRELS OF “FOREVER POISON” FOUND LEAKING INTO CALIFORNIA’S OCEAN
“Twelve miles off Catalina Island… all these barrels just sitting on the ocean floor.” “What’s in them?” scientists asked. The answer: DDT, a pesticide so toxic it’s been banned for 50 years. They thought there were 50 barrels. They found 25,000 of them leaking poison across a stretch of seafloor larger than San Francisco. Sea lions riddled with cancer. Fish contaminated. The Pacific bleeding chemicals that never die. Montrose Chemical dumped thousands of barrels a month and some workers even poked holes in them so they’d sink faster. Seventy years later, the barrels are breaking open. And everyone acted like they didn’t know. How long have they known and said nothing?

Prayer to Our Lady of Aparecida -
O incomparable Lady of the Immaculate Conception of Aparecida,
Mother of God, Queen of Angels,
Advocate of sinners,
refuge and consolation of the afflicted and troubled,
Most Holy Virgin,
full of power and goodness,
cast upon us a favorable glance,
so that we may be helped by you,
in all the needs in which we find ourselves.
Remember, O most clement Mother of Aparecida,
that it has never been heard
that any of those who have resorted to you,
invoked your most holy name
and implored your singular protection,
were abandoned by you.
Animated by this confidence,
we resort to you.
We take you forever as our Mother,
our protector, consolation and guide,
hope and light in the hour of death.
Deliver us from all that may offend you
and your Most Holy Son, Jesus. Preserve us from all dangers
of soul and body;
guide us in all spiritual and temporal matters.
Deliver us from the temptation of the devil,
so that, walking the path of virtue,
we may one day see you and …More

Leo XIV takes control over the management of the Fabbrica di San Pietro and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore by nullifying most of the administrative changes introduced by his predecessor Francesco with a motu proprio from June 2024 for San Pietro, and another from March this year for Santa Maria Maggiore. This latter act was signed by Gemelli a month before his death. Pope Prevost intervened after listening to experts, taking notes, and consulting internally with the Secretariat for the Economy, thus signing a new motu proprio titled 'Regarding the Applicable Norms for the Fabbrica di San Pietro' which sets a real shift for two important curial realities that have recently been at the center of murmurs and protests for excessive autonomy…
…The Fabbrica is very crucial because it handles the contracts for the necessary works for the construction and artistic realization of the largest basilica in the world, as well as all the related structures. In 2022, after a brief period of …More

EVERY WINDOW HAS A DIFFERENT STORY
As night falls, the city glows with countless windows — each one holding a different story…
- One home celebrates — just got married.
- Another wrestles with insomnia, unable to rest.
- Someone lost a job, while another finally paid off debt.
- A student is studying for an exam, while another heart falls in love.
- One family smiles — holiday soon!
- Across the hall, voices rise — they’re arguing.
- Another couple faces heartbreak — getting divorced, while someone else just broke up.
- A man just earned 1M, while another quietly closed a deal.
- A family beams — bought a new house!
- Somewhere, laughter echoes — they got a new pet.
- One soul rests in sweet dreams, another is still working through the night.
- And someone sits nervously — interview tomorrow.
So many windows. So many stories.
But one God who sees them all.
He sees the joy, the sorrow, the waiting, and the weary hearts.
He sees the light in every room — even the dim ones.
And He …More

Santo Domingo: Vatican Strips Archbishop of Governing Authority

Leo XIV has removed Archbishop Francisco Ozoria, 73, of Santo Domingo from all administrative and financial responsibilities of the Archdiocese.
In a letter shared with Panorama.com.do on Wednesday, Ozoria said the newly installed coadjutor archbishop, Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, has been granted exclusive authority over diocesan assets, economic affairs, clergy management, and church personnel.
Archbishop Ozoria, explained that he had requested a coadjutor himself – but only to ensure a smooth transition in the two years before his retirement.
However, he expressed surprise that he was left with “only the title” of Metropolitan Archbishop while losing governing power.
According to the letter, he was suspended for 'mismanagement', a charge of which he was never informed.
He noted he was never warned or reprimanded, aside from a past comment by Cardinal Marc Ouellet mentioning “certain accusations” against him.
Still, Archbishop Ozoria says he accepts the Vatican’s decision "in obedience". …More

St Martin of Tours raised an unbaptized catechumen from dead

This true story proves that no one goes to heaven without baptism.
According to Sulpicius’ account, not long after St. Martin established a monastery in Ligugé (five miles south of Poitiers), a catechumen joined the monks in Ligugé for instruction in the faith. While St. Martin was away travelling for three days, the unbaptised catechumen came down with a high fever and died. His body lay lifeless in one of the cells, awaiting burial.
Martin, Sulpicius reports, stretched himself at full length on the dead limbs of his departed brother. After he had stayed lying there some time in prayer, and had become aware through the Spirit that the power of God was present, he rose up for a short time, and fixing his gaze on the dead man’s face he waited with confidence for the result of his prayer and the mercy of the Lord. And after scarcely two hours had passed he saw the dead man begin to move all his limbs little by little, and his eyes trembling and blinking as he recovered his sight.
The …More
