Pope makes traditional visit to the Statue of the Immaculate Conception
Pope Leo XIV visited Piazza di Spagna in Rome on Monday afternoon to mark the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Following a tradition observed by the Bishop of Rome for the past 50 years, the Pope laid a bouquet of white roses at the base of the Column of the Immaculate Conception and led prayers for the feast day. Accompanied by Rome’s mayor, the Pope prayed with those gathered, then greeted attendees and blessed the sick and elderly.

MULLER AVOIDS BEING LAICIZED
Interprets Vatican Council II as a rupture with St. Thomas Aquinas on extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Chooses Ratzingerian hermeneutic of discontinuity with Tradition.
In an interview with the German media , Cardinal Gerhardt Muller, has cautioned traditionalists and progressivists on Vatican Council II, indicating he is still politically correct with the Left, and will not interpret the Council, rationally and so traditionally, instead of irrationally and schismatically.
A Consultant with the European Synod, he is once again affirming schismatic Ratzingerian theology, based upon the irrational interpretation of Vatican Council II with a fake premise and inference to produce a fake conclusion.
It is a rupture with the ecclesiology of St. Thomas Aquinas.
It is approved by the European Union and Alberto Melloni.
Muller is not laicized by the Vatican.

Book of Isaiah 40,1-11.
Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her service is at an end, her guilt is expiated; Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; The rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all mankind shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
A voice says, "Cry out!" I answer, "What shall I cry out?" "All mankind is grass, and all their glory like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower wilts, when the breath of the LORD blows upon it. (So then, the people is the grass.)
Though the grass withers and the flower wilts, the word of our God stands forever."
Go up onto a high mountain …

The Ark of the Covenant and the Mother of God — Beyond These Stone Walls

Most long time readers of these pages might guess my favorite among the canonical Gospels. Back in 2019, I wrote a post entitled “
St. Luke the Evangelist, Dear and Glorious Physician.” In part, it profiled a 1959 book by Taylor Caldwell that I read at age 21 during my novitiate year as a Capuchin. Several years later, life took me in another direction to diocesan priesthood, and then down darker roads that seemed to have a will of their own. These were roads of betrayal and false witness that sent me ever further from the dream of my vocation to priesthood as I first envisioned how it would be.
That story is told in small snippets in multiple places. One day, I will compose the whole story. For this post, suffice it to say today that one book always stood out in the back of my mind as a story of Divine …

Franciscan Media to close at end of 2025 amid larger downturn in Catholic news media

(OSV News) — Franciscan Media, a long-running U.S.-based Catholic news and evangelization outlet, has announced it will shut down at the end of 2025, amid a broader contraction in Catholic news outlets and wider shifts in the journalism industry itself.
“After much prayer, discernment, and heartfelt conversation, the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe have reached the difficult decision to conclude the operations of Franciscan Media as of the end of 2025,” said the outlet in a message posted to its website and emailed to supporters Dec. 5.
Print, digital and multimedia
The organization — known until 2011 as St. Anthony Messenger and publishing a flagship magazine of the same name — offered a number of free subscriptions, along with extensive evangelization and inspirational content in print, digital and multimedia formats.
Founded by Franciscan friars in 1893, the outlet and similar Franciscan initiatives strove to engage the laity with the faith and the example …

I used to to support the Conventual Franciscans The a while back I got an issue of their magazine. Buried in an article was a blurb question I forget if the was the Virgin Birth or Mary's perpetual virginity. And an article talking about Satan as just a wild and crazy angel. It was them bowing before Pachamama. St, Francis must be weeping.

This post is for my fellow Filipinos who love our Catholic traditions. Let us talk about one of the most beautiful customs we have during Advent. Simbang Gabi, the Misa de Aguinaldo. These dawn Masses are not just cultural events. They are a real Catholic treasure. For those who might not know, Simbang Gabi is a nine day novena of dawn Masses in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It starts at dawn on December 16 and leads us right up to the dawn of December 24. In the traditional Roman Rite this practice comes from the ancient Rorate Caeli Masses. These were candlelit Marian Masses prayed before sunrise. The church is dark, the candles are glowing, and the priest begins with the words of Isaiah calling for the heavens to drop down the dew of the Savior. That is the real origin of Simbang Gabi.
Now as we get ready to begin these nine days, we need to get something straight. Simbang Gabi is not a Catholic version of a wish spell. It is not a superstition. It is not a guarantee that if you …More

Why Liberalism and Socialism Hate the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception so Much

By TFP LA
“Why Liberalism and Socialism Hate the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception so Much.” was the topic of the latest Ladies Talk and Tea. It was held in Lafayette, the heart of Acadiana.
A short answer is to be found in the affirmation that of all creatures, only Mary (and naturally her Divine Son Jesus) was conceived without the stain of original sin. This makes her unequal to the rest of the human race. It places her in a unique, privileged place in God’s Creation and Divine Plan. For the liberal who believes that the individual is without the effects of original sin, or the socialist who believes the masses are, this anti-egalitarian act of God inspires not admiration but hatred. And this applies to Catholics influenced either by the liberalism of the French Revolution or the socialism of the Russian Revolution.
Our country was consecrated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception on May 13, 1846. That was years before Blessed Pius IX proclaimed the dogma as a truth of the …
