James Martin SJ: "Leo XIV Wants Continuation of Francis’ Legacy"
"It was very consoling and very encouraging," homosexual activist James Martin SJ told Reuters.com about the meeting with Pope Leo XIV on September 1.
"I heard the same message from Pope Leo that I heard from Pope Francis about welcoming LGBTQ people", he said.
Father Martin added that the meeting with Leo XIV lasted about a half-hour: "He wants everyone in the church to feel welcome."
And: "His approach to LGBTQ Catholics is a continuation of Pope Francis' legacy."
