Our Blessed Lady as Queen.
"Today He transports from her earthly dwelling, as Queen of the human race, His ever-Virgin Mother, from whose womb He, the living God, took on human form." – St Andrew of Crete. This mosaic is in the apse of the Notre Dame chapel of Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University) in Washington DC. In the foreground is the apex of the baldachino over the High Altar. The chapel was built in 1924 and won a national architecture award for ecclesiastical architecture. It was restored in 1997.
