Born in Fossa, later a brilliant law student, blessed Bernardine understood the vanity of human affairs at an early age. When he was twenty-five, he left the world and went to ask St. James of the March for the seraphic habit. He was admired by his fellow friars for his gentleness, humility, obedience, assiduity at prayer and his frightful mortifications. He preached in all the towns of Italy, Dalmatia and Strigonia. God confirmed his words by many miracles. He died on November 27, 1503. Leo XII confirmed his cultus. – (from) The Franciscan Supplement.
