Priest wears eye mask so he can’t see penitents in car coming for confession

It is easier to confess without eye contact to the priest. I love those old confessionals where nothing can be seen. It is, of course, also easier for women to confess in a more anonymous way, and there is less danger for temptations both to the priest and the woman. Many a sinful affair between a priest and a woman started in the confessional with close eye contact.

@Jim Dorchak Offer it up [for the Church and us] and pray. In CA of all places, we are getting everything, including Eucharistic adoration, albeit outside. Thanks be to a God and Mother, and God in his angels and saints especially Ss Joseph and Michael.

@Jim Dorchak Want to swap places with us Jim? Our Church is a 40min drive from home. Distance limit now enforced is 5 km from place of residence. All churches of every denomination have capitulated to the Draconian lockdowns. Some Catholic churches, like ours, have only 1 priest on station, and he is forced to abide by the States mandatory edits or suffer financial disincentives. Should I, or my wife, fall sick enough to warrant hospitalisation, we would have no access to a priest, not even our own priest?-nor are spouses, or close family members allowed to visit hospitals- From this point on, we will be unable to receive any Sacraments, have a priest visit, or, if the worse should happen to either of us, have a Traditional Requiem Mass, as is our wish, for the repose of our bodies. Limit for persons allowed to attend a funeral,15, less than half of current family members? Let alone extended family members or friends. All thanks to a would-be catholic State Premier.

Our doors on our Churches have been LOCKED since March. Drive or no drive. No priest. No Mass. No Last Rites. No nada. So looks like we are in the same boat. And this is for all of Chile.
