Again: Francis Out of Action
The Eucharist was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. Francis sat aside in his street clothes.
“We risk making faith a museum piece, this is a real risk. The Holy Spirit on the other hand, brings it up to date. For the Holy Spirit does not bind himself to passing epochs or fashions,” he said while insisting on the outdated Vatican II and fighting the timeless Roman Rite and the teachings of the Gospel.
During the consecration, the camera focused briefly on Francis. He was standing in front of his white chair with his eyes closed. This time he did NOT raise his hand to co-preside.
However, it is unlikely that he presided his own Eucharist on today's solemnity.
