The Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ Celebrates 300 Years | EWTN News Nightly

The Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ has inaugurated it's jubilee in celebration of 300 years since its founding. Today, the congregation has over 400 communities in over 60 countries around the world. The jubilee year began on Sunday with the opening of the Holy Door at the Basilica of Saints John and Paul in Rome. The founder of the congregation was a young Italian named Paolo Danei, who was inspired to start a community, to preach the Passion of Christ and to serve the "crucified" of this world. He is now known as St. Paul of the Cross. The current superior general, Fr. Joachim Rego has encouraged the Passionist family to keep their hearts open to God's call to conversion during this time of renewal.
