Sacked for Answering a Pupil's Question Honestly: Stand with Sarah Morse

Sarah Morse gave her pupils an honest answer, and by nightfall, she had lost her livelihood.
On 19 November last year, Sarah, a 66-year-old Catholic teacher with 20 years of experience in England, Canada and Scotland, was covering a history class at Arbroath High School. Before starting their worksheet, her teenage pupils asked her the kind of questions American teachers abroad hear all the time: about food, about school life in the US, and then about abortion.
Sarah answered truthfully:
"I am a faithful Roman Catholic, and I am against it."
That was it. She made no attempt to persuade a single pupil. She explicitly told the class it was a difficult issue and that it was "okay if you disagree." She modelled exactly what good education looks like: honest, respectful dialogue …
