Many Young People: Belgian Bishop Celebrates Closing Mass for Pilgrimage in Roman Rite

The Belgian pilgrimage in the Roman Rite to Our Lady of Foy celebrated the 30th anniversary on October 6. Bishop Jean-Pierre Delville of Liège celebrated the Pontifical Mass at the Shrine.

The pilgrimage was initiated in 1994 by six friends, inspired by the French pilgrimage to Chartres. It is a one-day walk that begins at the church of Leffe and goes 25 kilometers to the Shrine of Notre Dame de Foy.

DioceseDeNamur.be reported on October 16 that in recent years, “the participation of families and especially young people has exploded”.

Quentin, 19, a convert and student from Namur, said that two thirds of the Roman Catholics he meets are converts.

He found the Faith thanks to the Latin Mass: “In the Tridentine Mass, you can feel the greatness of God. It is meant to uplift the faithful, it edified me. I went to confession for the first time."
