Habibollah Sarzabi, Secretary General of the Balochistan National Solidarity Party, spoke of "massacre-like attacks" by Iran's security forces and a "city at war". Speaking to the Iranian opposition media Iran International, Sarzabi said that the ruling clergy's squads had targeted people with machine guns - some from helicopters that thundered low over the city. Angry demonstrators reportedly set fire to a police station and the shop of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander in response.
Meanwhile, the London-based organisation Netblocks reported a regional internet disruption in Zahedan and other parts of Sistan Balochistan. Videos on digital networks show people covered in blood in mosques and hospitals, and emergency rooms are reportedly overloaded.
