How is this man the prefect of the former Holy Office?!? « The future Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández blatantly endorsed universalism, or the idea that all are saved, in a recently uncovered paper written more than 30 years ago. In a 46-page 1995 essay titled “Romanos 9-11: gracia y predestinación” (Grace and Predestination) first reported by El Wanderer, the future Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith wrote extensively on the Church’s teaching on salvation and predestination, citing the works Saints Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, though the then-priest focused on what they wrote on God’s mercy while largely ignoring His justice. Ultimately, Fernández concluded his work by stressing that he “firmly trusts” that “everyone will be saved,” adding that this is not a “mere wish” but based on what he “know(s) of God and His specific plans.” »
No surprise. It will not change any opinions of him. I am only surprised by how seamless a transition was made from Fran, who hated Catholics with the heat of a thousand suns (but never, for the luck of the Anglican Use, could figure it out) and had to be "elected" fraudulently, to Pope Leo. I suppose most revolutions take place in less than twelve years.
It's perfectly clear that he was a heretic and is now an even greater heretic. Yet he clearly thinks he's a Catholic, and that all his beliefs are Catholic. All heretics of the conciliar-synodal church think they're Catholic and that their heresies are the Catholic Faith. Luther, the anglicans, the greek-schismatics, and many others thought the same. Of course, this devil cannot possibly be the head of the Holy Office. Even the mere suggestion that such a person could hold this position seems blasphemous to me. But this only applies to the Catholic Church. If we're talking about a conciliar church organization, then such a person is perfectly suited for this position.
