Following the Star… January 5 2020 Solemnity of the Epiphany Dear brothers and sisters, in these days a video made with the technology of "deep fake" is going viral on the web. In this video you can see world leaders singing the song of John Lennon Imagine. I guess that the intention of the makers of the video was to wish peace to the world. In fact, John Lennon with this famous song, Imagine, with a very beautiful and engaging melody, wants to send a message of peace to the world. A peace he sees possible only by eliminating what he believes to be the source of conflicts, including religions. Nevertheless, we Christians believe that beyond any good intentions when men get rid of God they lost themselves in the labyrinth of their ego. In fact, the great challenges that humanity at the beginning of the third millennium must face - from the economic system that accumulates almost all the wealth in the hands of 10% of humanity, to the phenomenon of migrations that will become increasingly dramatic up to the crisis of the climate changes that could lead to the extinction of life on earth - do not have their roots precisely in the selfishness of man? The solemnity of the epiphany that we celebrate Sunday 5 January, through the narration of the Three Wise Men who seek and find the King whose Star had somehow heralded the birth in Bethlehem, invites us to realize that only in the humble acceptance of the wonderful plan of love of God revealed in Jesus it will be possible to achieve peace in men's hearts and among nations and, at the same time, the salvation of the Earth, our beautiful common home!
