Conservative leaders demand apology from Huffington over anti-Catholic column

A group of socially conservative leaders is demanding Huffington Post publisher Arianna Huffington apologize for allowing a column to be published on her website that compares Catholics to pedophiles and attacks communion as a "barbaric ritual."

In the letter dated Tuesday and obtained first by FoxNews.com, the group -- never fans of the online news site -- writes that the website, recently purchased by AOL, is "complicit in bigotry" for publishing columnist Larry Doyle's article about Rick Santorum's Catholic faith.

"Larry Doyle's recent anti-Catholic screed in the Huffington Post, 'The Jesus-Eating Cult of Rick Santorum,' is bigoted and unacceptable, and a perfect example of 'flame-throwing, name-calling, and simplistic attack dog rhetoric'" that Huffington pledged to avoid when she launched the Huffington Post in 2005.

"His column should be taken off your site, and you should issue an apology for ever publishing such trash," the group wrote.

In his so-called satire published Friday, Doyle, a novelist and former writer and producer for "The Simpsons," writes that many readers would be "shocked to learn" about Santorum's religious beliefs, which stem from the church's history in the Crusades "and its current role as the tactical arm" of the fringe North American Man-Boy Love Association.

Doyle's column was roundly criticized and he wrote a follow-up on Tuesday saying he would not apologize and doesn't care if anyone is offended.

Mathew 5--43 You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy. 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: 45 That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust. 46 For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this? 47 And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this? 48 Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.

Arianna Huffington, a confused, educated but not intelligent, formerly Republican woman of Greek origin, multi-millionaire Elitist, Huffington was a member of the Rajneesh movement, her then live–in-partner Bernard Levin. ( they were persons inspired by the Indian mystic Osho -formerly known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, 1931–1990, the mystic sex guru), particularly initiated disciples who are referred to as "neo-sannyasins" or simply "sannyasins", also formerly known as Rajneeshees or "Orange People", because of the orange and later red, maroon and pink clothes they used from 1970 until 1985. Members of the cultic movement are also sometimes called Oshoites in the Indian press. The movement was controversial in the 1970s and 1980s, due to the founder's hostility to traditional values, first in India and later in the United States of America. This was particularly the case in Oregon, where the movement had a large intentional community in the early 1980s, called Rajneeshpuram.
Later Arianna Huffington joined the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (or MSIA, sometimes pronounced "messiah") Movement, The ‘church’ movement has about 5,000 active students, mainly in the United States, as well as in 32 countries around the world. MSIA is alleged by some sources to be a religious cult. Active meditation technique based on chanting specific sacred Sanskrit words internally, in a similar fashion to the Transcendental Meditation (TM) techniques. MSIA also offers its students a twelve-year study support subscription called Soul Awareness Discourses. Discourses are a program designed to educate students on the teachings of MSIA and assist readers stay focused on their spiritual practices. Both the tones and discourses are held sacred to each student.
The Founder John-Roger (formerly Hinkins) and John Morton are considered to be the leaders of the group and are both referred to as the "Traveler" (...oooooo!) 😲 .Often called a 'church without walls' by its members, MSIA is a religion per se, that provides a set of tools and techniques to teach Soul transcendence. Soul Transcendence, as defined by MSIA, is the process of becoming aware of yourself as a soul and as one with God. The MSIA teachings draw primarily on the ministry of Jesus Christ ("The Christ Consciousness is the spiritual line of energy undergirding MSIA"); they also include elements of Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, and the Sant Mat/Radhasoami tradition.

Indeed... always the very best way. I, too, have seen such processions by the SSPX, and have heard of others that met with both awe and backlash both. Very edifying, in any case. But most people wouldn't know WHY you were doing it, so... for many people, it would be something strange they saw that they just didn't get. (The only reason I spoke of signs and roadsides.)

Of course the former is obviously better in terms of grace.

I'd be happy just to see Catholics giving a hoot when people say the garbage that they do... and being willing to even so much as protest. If every Catholic out there stopped subscribing to the papers and stopped watching the stations that publish or broadcast that garbage and if Catholics organized to "march for their rights" the way gays and lesbians do, I'm betting people wouldn't be so quick …More

If every Catholic out there stopped subscribing to the papers and stopped watching the stations that publish or broadcast that garbage and if Catholics organized to "march for their rights" the way gays and lesbians do, I'm betting people wouldn't be so quick to spew their hate messages in public.

Just imagine driving down a public street in your city, seeing a whole congregation or parish worth of Catholics in chains with duct tape over their mouths, holding signs like "you believe in rights for everybody... what about us?" or "Anti-catholicism ... the new hate speech" or other freedom slogans... along with signs about all the great Catholics of history (since so many of the great artists, scientists and so forth, were Catholics.)
