Lviv Archbishop Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki, the president of the Ukrainian Bishops’ Conference, criticised a book of the German Bishops with templates for “liturgical blessing celebrations” for homosex liaisons.
“This news has caused sadness, pain and confusion.” Mokrzycki wrote in a February 26 statement, "Homosexual acts are sinful and deprive of sanctifying grace."
Views as those presented by the pro-homosex German bishops don't fit within the deposit of Faith, both in Sacred Scripture and in the Church’s Tradition, Mokrzycki explained:
“The Church teaches that respect for homosexuals must under no circumstances lead to approval of homosexual behavior or to the legalization of homosexual relationships.”
Mokrzycki encouraged to pray for the Church in Germany. From 1996 to 2005, Mokrzycki was secretary to John Paul II. Benedict XVI took him on as second secretary alongside Georg Gänswein after he took office.
