It is illogical to deny the reality of the phony fall of the Soviet Union and the sum of Catholic teaching supporting this idea. Russia's war crime against the sovereign state of Ukraine is just one more example that the Soviet Kremlin is alive and flourishing.
Ah but did it really? Or was it the Perestroika Deception?
Hi Jeffrey,
There are logical inconsistencies with the Perestroika Deception.
Just exploring some points:
1- It is illogical to think that if an idea/intention is written in a book
(Perestroika Deception - 1995 book by KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn), then it necessarily means it will come to fruition in real life or that it should be given a higher standard of credence.
2- It is not logical to think that Bolshevik communism can be defined as the same entity as the esoteric communism that the Perestroika Deception describes.
3- The invaded nation (which has life through its people) plays a big role in whether the ideology will be internalized by the people and although a national hierarchy can be infiltrated, it does not mean that its people will internalize the propaganda as its own.
We have, for example, Afghanistan, where the Bolshevik communists replaced Afghanistan's leadership with communist empathizers and yet got nowhere near making the actual Afghan people embrace communism. Ironically, the war with Afghanistan is what depleted the Soviet Union economically and played a big role in the downfall of the Soviet Union.
I bend my knee to Pope Pius XI's assessment on why Bolshevik communism ended. That's to say, mainly among others: no natural right accorded to human personality, the imposed brutality and terrorism to make its people be "productive" which is not sustainable, the denial of the supreme reality: God.
I'm sure the communists wanted the West disarmed while allowing hardcore communists to secretly retain power, but it was just wishful thinking.
And indeed the withering away of the Red state was realized with the formal dissolution of the Soviet Union on December 26, 1991.
