The East Gate of Jerusalem, one of eight gates in the city walls, faces the Mount of Olives, and it is the most direct entrance to the Temple. As such, it is believed that the Lord Jesus came through this gate on his triumphal entry into the city. Today is Palm Sunday, when this entry of Christ into Jerusalem is commemorated; the start of Holy Week.
