Synaxis of Archangels Michael and Gabriel and all the Heavenly Powers

Sat Nov 8th

Troparion
Captains and Leaders of the Armies of Heaven, unworthy as we are, we beseech without cease to surround us with your intercessions and cover us beneath the shelter of the glory of your ethereal wings. We bend our knee and cry out with perseverance: deliver us from danger, O Princes of the Powers on High!

". . . you should know that there is present with you the angel whom God has appointed for each man. . . This angel, who is sleepless and cannot be deceived, is always present with you; he sees all things and is not hindered by darkness. You should know, too, that with him is God."
St. Anthony the Great

"The heavenly spirits visit us, not as it seems fit to them, but as the occasion conduces to our advantage, for they are ever looking upon the glory and fullness of the Divine Wisdom."
St. Basil

"If it happens, as you pray, that some word evokes delight or remorse, linger over it; for at that moment our guardian angel is praying with us."
St. John Climacos
