Novus Ordo celebratio
tbswv
The Novus Ordo liturgy simply follows a protestant model and therefore cannot be "reverent" since it promotes symbolism and not the real presence. Only the Traditional Latin Mass pre 1962 is reverent, and honors Our Lord. That is why the 'inovators" revised the rubrics of the liturgy and consulted with protestants.

It Simply is Reverent. The Traditional Latin Mass.

I love going to the Trad Mass. I truly do because I feel as though I'm in God's house and not a community center.

Absolutely true! But for the average priest in the average diocese or congregation it is the only option un less he wants to lose his faculties and takeaway from the faithful the last scrap of Catholic piety

"However, the same rubrics allow just as easily for the most banal, goofy, or irreverent options if the celebrant so chooses." One does not blame the rubrics if the celebrant chooses poorly.

"The blog compares this with the Traditional Latin Mass, where the celebrant becomes irrelevant."

The celebrant is never irrelevant in ANY Mass. *scowls*

What is meant is that in TLM, the celebrant can't be irreverent, if he does what the book says because there are no options. Or in other words,, the celebrant has no choice making into producing a clown's show. While in NO mass the celbrant can do as he wishes.

No offense, @mystic but... well... "Or in other words,, the celebrant has no choice making into producing a clown's show." is so convoluted, I honestly don't understand you. "Making into producing a clown's show"? Say what?

It's my understanding the TLM has rubrics for practically every gesture the celebrant makes from the moment he begins to the moment he ends. NO (there's an unintentionally…More

It's my understanding the TLM has rubrics for practically every gesture the celebrant makes from the moment he begins to the moment he ends. NO (there's an unintentionally funny abbreivation, eh?) Masses do not and allow the celebrant vastly more liberty for, uh... improvisation. Some celebrants don't abuse the privilege and give glory to God. Others... sadly, do not and, as you probably know, have literally turned the Mass into a clown show, complete with real clowns. Since an ordained priest is necessary for both forms of the Mass, without a priest there can be no Mass. That doesn't change if the priest is NO or TLM, devout or a buffoon.

"Clown show" is just quoted from the original article.
Unintentionally? No way.
No offense?
My Jesus says to me:
Political correctness unfortunately rewards and teaches people to be continuously in search for awareness on how they are being offended. Political correctness shortens the fuse of peoples and nations. And while people will always keep offending, consciously or by accident, it is just …More

My Jesus says to me:
Political correctness unfortunately rewards and teaches people to be continuously in search for awareness on how they are being offended. Political correctness shortens the fuse of peoples and nations. And while people will always keep offending, consciously or by accident, it is just a matter of time before someone gets offended and the next war breaks out. Believe me it is the narrow gate to not get offended, because there is no reward for not getting offended, while there is a reward for getting offended. Therefore political correctness is sweet in the mouth, but bitter in the stomach, it is an invention of the adversary used to sow discord. I tell you this because I can already see the bitter fruits of it on a greater scale.
So you: do not get offended.

I was referring to the phrase "making into producing" and that wasn't in the original. ;-) Hey, it's simple. TLM or NO, devout or silly... no priest, no Mass. Period. That's a good thing. The Church's lengthy ordination process and the vows priests must take, it goes a long way to weeding out a lot of the idiots

As awful as some Catholic priest might become, hoo boy... one look at the ministe…More

As awful as some Catholic priest might become, hoo boy... one look at the ministers over in Lutheran-Land shows how many of them live in Crazy Town. :P
