Giulio Savelli in 1708 donated to the Basilica of San Nicolas in Carcere the precious reliquary of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ which was in a border of the mantle of the Centurion. It was preserved by the Savelli family.
The Centurion had pierced Jesus with a lance to verify if Our Lord was dead.
This cloth-border was guarded because it had the Blood and water which flowed from the wound in Jesus.
