"A couple of friends have said to me, 'It just doesn't make sense. Why are they doing this?' and I will say, 'It doesn't make sense if your purpose is to increase the number of very faithful people in the church and to feed and nurture the souls of those who are totally committed to the teaching of the church. If your purpose is to change the teaching of the church and to break with tradition, then it makes a lot of sense.'"
