Leo XIV's Promoted Bishop in Spain: "Homosexuals' Blessings Open Door, Other Steps Will Follow"

In June, Pope Leo XIV promoted the well-known homosexual activist José Antonio Satué, 57.

In 2021, Francis appointed Monsignor Satué as bishop of Teruel (80 priests, 80,000 Catholics). Pope Leo XIV then appointed him as bishop of Málaga (300 priests, 1.2 million Catholics).

Monsignor Satué took office last Saturday.

In his first interview, published on DiarioSur.es today, he maintained his straight course of homosexual activism.

He attacked the Church that "caused suffering" to homosexuals and divorcees because "the Church did not welcome them as they were."

Regarding homosexuals, Bishop Satué said: "There is no doubt that we must do everything possible so that the Church and religions as a whole do not cause further suffering, but rather help to welcome people as they are."

He added: "Francis opened a door with the famous blessings of homosexual couples. It is an open path. Over time, other steps will be taken, because what cannot be in the Church is that there are people who believe themselves to be saints and others whom we consider sinners for reasons that they themselves have not chosen."
