Unconditional Surrender: Father Julián Carrón Resigns

Father Julián Carrón, an enthusiastic supporter of Francis, has resigned after some resistance as the leader of Communion and Liberation.

He succeded Monsignor Luigi Giussani in 2005, the founder of that ecclesiastic movement. Carrón was forced to retire after a Vatican decision that leaders of ecclesial movement may only be in charge for ten years.

Francis has recently put the Memores Domini, the consecrated members of the movement, under a commissioner, including the four Memores women who assist Benedict XVI, in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery in the Vatican.
