2nd Reading – Ephesians 1:17-23 breski1

Brothers and sisters:
17 May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a Spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.

18 May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones,

19 and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe, in accord with the exercise of his great might:

20 which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,

21 far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age but also in the one to come.

22 And he put all things beneath his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

Or Hebrews 9:24-28; 10:19-23

24 Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a copy of the true one, but heaven itself, that he might now appear before God on our behalf.

25 Not that he might offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters each year into the sanctuary with blood that is not his own;

26 if that were so, he would have had to suffer repeatedly from the foundation of the world. But now once for all he has appeared at the end of the ages to take away sin by his sacrifice.

27 Just as it is appointed that men and women die once, and after this the judgment,

28 so also Christ, offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to take away sin but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him.

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since through the blood of Jesus we have confidence of entrance into the sanctuary

20 by the new and living way he opened for us through the veil, that is, his flesh,

21 and since we have Aa great priest over the house of God, “

22 let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.

23 Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy.

OR Ephesians 4:1-13

1 Brothers and sisters, I, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,

2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love,

3 striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace:

4 one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call;

5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

7 But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

8 Therefore, it says: He ascended on high and took prisoners captive; he gave gifts to men.

9 What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended into the lower regions of the earth?

10 The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

11 And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,

12 to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

13 until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature to manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.

OR Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13
