All Over the Nation, Public Officials Continue to Further Restrict Faith Gatherings

With the number of coronavirus cases continuing to rise, public officials are rolling out new guidelines regarding houses of worship. In the nations capitol, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the capacity of houses of worship would be reduced from 100 to 50 people. In Oregon, faith gatherings have been reduced to 25 people, prompting Archbishop Alexander Sample to write a response including, "Why are we limited to 25 people in a church that can seat 1000 while certain businesses are allowed to operate on a percentage of capacity?" And though Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky recommended to halt in-person worship, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz said "He made it a recommendation, we still take it very seriously, but in dialogue we've communicated that we will continue to provide safely public worship."
