Jesus’ vision March 8 2020 II Sunday of Lent Dear brothers and sisters, the Lenten season is an extraordinarily fitting time to make us increasingly aware of our greatness. In fact, while last Sunday the Gospel, inviting us to reflect on the temptations of Jesus in the desert, presented us with the "vision" that Satan proposes to human kind in order to have men follow and worship him, a vision of the man that Jesus "discards" because, He as the only begotten Son of the Father, knows that it is insufficient and inadequate for the greatness of the human being created by God in his image and likeness, on the second Sunday of Lent The Gospel, inviting us to meditate on the transfiguration of Jesus wants us to take into consideration the vision that God has on man, the Resurrection, of which Jesus on Mount Tabor shows, transfiguring himself before the astonished eyes of the Apostles, a kind of "anticipation" The testimony of the Apostles that, after 2000 years of Church history, reaches us today, pushes us to follow Jesus enthusiastically, without fear of denying ourselves and taking up our Cross, on the road to the Celestial Jerusalem, where we will enjoy the vision of God face to face participating in His final victory over evil, death, darkness, sadness and hatred.
