Escapism or Ascension?
Ascension of the Lord May 24 2020

Dear brothers and sisters, life, sometimes, with its inevitable load of problems, worries, and anxieties, can really become an unbearable burden. Especially in this time of pandemic by Coronavirus, many have felt in their deepest being an overpowering desire to escape ... Actually, beyond the pandemic, which we are experiencing now, the desire to go beyond the limited boundaries of everyday routine; the desire, present especially in young people, of transgression, of blowing up all the schemes of "it has always been done this way", it is, I’d say, innate in the human being because it was just God who put it into his heart . It is as if God, in creating man, had said: "It is too little for man to live a life that is simply human. I want to transmit my life to him so that he can live a life like god. Here it is, dear brothers and sisters, that the Solemnity of the Ascension of Jesus in heaven, which we celebrate on May 24, it is a sort of God's response to man's desire to cross the boundaries of space-time to extend to the eternity of God. You have made us for yourself, O Lord, Saint Augustine ecstatically exclaimed , and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”
