Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI Weighs In on the State of the Church in Germany | EWTN News Nightly.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is weighing in on the state of the Church in his native Germany. In an interview with a German magazine, the 94 year old expressed concern over what he called a lack of faith within Church institutions in the country. The Pope Emeritus also said he worried many Church documents in Germany are crafted by people for whom the faith is institutional rather than the heart or the spirit. Editor in chief of CNA Deutsch, AC Wimmer, joins to tell us more about what Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said about the Church in Germany and why a German word he used drew a lot of attention. Wimmer shares what else Benedict said in the interview and whether these comments have any effect on Church leaders or the faithful in Germany. On another note, in a letter last week German Cardinal Reinhard Marx said he had not ruled out offering his resignation for a second time to the Holy Father. Wimmer discusses what he makes of this. The editor in chief gives us an update on the overall Church in Germany and what events he has his eyes on in the coming days and weeks.
