New Book: Bishop Robert Prevost Ignored Vatican’s Survey on Roman Rite
The title is: 'The Liturgy Is Not a Show: The Questionnaire to Bishops on the Old Rite—A Weapon of Mass Destruction?'
The book was co-authored with Saverio Gaeta, a former editor at the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. It contains all relevant documents from the 2020 survey by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith regarding the Mass in the Roman Rite.
The documents confirm that Francis falsely claimed he issued Traditionis Custodes because bishops wanted it and "forced his hand." In reality, most bishops wanted to maintain their Latin Mass congregations.
The new book contains a summary of the implementation of Summorum Pontificum by continent and country that has not yet been published.
Of the 178 dioceses in the United States, 65% responded: 62% of bishops report that the Roman Rite responds to a pastoral need expressed by faithful who lead a deep and fruitful lives of faith thanks to this rite.
In South American dioceses, however, there is "extremely low participation."
Officials from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith suggested that this may be due to the presence of the Priestly Fraternity of St Pius X (SSPX), which has a major seminary, ten priories, sixty-one chapels, and eight schools throughout South America.
No response was received from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, the Falkland Islands, Peru (sic!) , or Venezuela. In 2020, Pope Leo XIV was the bishop of Chiclayo, Apostolic Administrator of Callao, and vice president of the Peruvian Bishops' Conference (2018–2023).
Further, no responses were received from numerous African countries, presumably due to the absence of Masses in the Roman Rite.
The Mass is only celebrated in three regions, and the bishops there expressed full support.
Benin ("There are only positive aspects.")
Gabon ("It transports one to heavenly realms.")
Mauritius ("General satisfaction after a period of misunderstanding").
Of the 95 dioceses in France, 87 submitted a report. 80% of them had Masses in the Roman rite to meet a pastoral need. 42% of the French bishops wanted a mutual enrichment of Novus Ordo and the Roman rite.
In total, 70% of bishops didn't respond to the Vatican’s questionnaire. 80% of dioceses did not have Masses in the Roman rite even 13 years after Summorum Pontificum. Entire nations reportedly had no interest at all.
