Francis: "I Can Walk"

“I have been able to walk for three days,” Francis, 85, told Brazilian bishops during their June 27 Ad Limina visit.

In a Vatican video, Francis’ wheelchair is seen in the back of the room. He was walking already during the June 25 closing Mass of the World Meeting of Families, and during a June 27 audience for the Neocatechumenal Way.

After the meeting, Marajo Archbishop Evaristo Pascoal Spengler said that Francis, when talking about the Amazon, “closed his eyes in an expression of pain and suffering and then asked: ‘What can we do?’”
