Francis Prays for Married Deacons

“Deacons are not priest of a second category,” Francis protests in a one-minute-video dedicated to his May Prayer Intention.

According to him, married deacons “live their vocation in the family and with the family” – although Christ never called anybody into a family as this is not necessary, because the family is the default state of Christian life, while the vocation is an exception.

Married deacons are dedicated to the “service of the poor,” Francis claims, while, in reality, they are almost exclusively active in the liturgy.

This function of married deacons is acknowledged by Francis, when he prays that they be “faithful to the service of the Word.”

This points at the true purpose for the introduction of married deacons: to serve as a springboard for introducing married priests.

Married deacons are dedicated to the "service of the poor," No, they're dedicated to the service of God and the Church. They're not social workers.

Not in your social religion powered by novel argentinian catechism. Start using your brain unless it has been totally washed out by argentinian tango. Then again you may always ask for help... God is patient.

Try making insults that are actually relevant, you idiot. First, it isn't "my" social religion, it's Pope Francis' social religion.
"Start using your brain..."
Why don't you, dummy? Then I wouldn't have to correct your garbage all the time. Like I said @Rafał_Ovile'. you're the reason the world makes "Polish" jokes.More

When you serve the poor you also served God. Matthew 25:40.

If I may trouble you for a moment, Wichita Knight... Please show me where, exactly, the phrase "the poor" appears in Matthew 25:40. You see, I'm currently looking at the Greek text of the Gospel passage on several different sites and the phrase "the poor" eludes me. Perhaps you might allow me to benefit from your scholarship.

"“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" If the poor do not fall under the rubric of "least of our brothers," I cannot imagine who would.

Since you can't imagine, I'll be happy to help.
The "least of our brothers" could just as easily apply to, say, the intellectually challenged and the mentally handicapped. Since you're a nice guy, I should emphasize I'm not taking a shot there, either. But they're certainly among the least, yes?

...or those who labour under the ignorance of false religious doctrines.

...or those who suffer from substance abuse.

...or emotional problems

...or the elderly who are abandoned by their own families.

...or those oppressed by tyrannical regimes.

...or from anything else that lowers and degrades humanity, either by their own choice or through no fault of their own.

As for the poor, well... the "poor" today often live better than those who are, on paper, earning decent wages. The poor qualify for free housing, free utilities, free medical-care, free food, free transportation, free child-care, free education, and even in some places free entertainment which is conflated with an essential utility.

...all paid for by those who don't qualify as "the poor" on their 1040s. ;-)

Helping the "least of our brothers" does not require the appointment of married deacons, nor should it be a gateway to allowing married deacons to serve as de facto priests. This has been a recurring tactic of Pope Francis' Papacy... the establishment of new entirely uncanonical policies through his "approval" and "promotion" even if they aren't formally recognized as such.
