Wow, I'm all covered with tears - so much beauty it hurts.

Yes, yes, beautiful indeed....

I think it is so beautiful, that someone is trying to help her to remember, to find that little corner of her brain which still can have that kind of joy.
I am so happy to hear there are people who will give their time and caring to people who have apparently lost most of what makes us human.

Absolutely....

The "Memory Care" unit in any nursing home is a hellish place. Few things are more tragic than people (and they ARE still people) whose bodies have out-lived their minds. While The Church rightly teaches against euthanasia, I pray the Lord for a "good death"...

Christ told Peter IN Matthew 26:52, "Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword."…More

Christ told Peter IN Matthew 26:52, "Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword."

It doesn't take very long volunteering at a nursing home, to realize why it is a far better thing to "perish with the sword".

I'd even settle for something less "heroic" like blowing out the valves on my ticker at a rave, thanks to being "Officially Too Old For The Scene" and one too many Red Bulls.

I don't think this is funny, as some are making jokes about it. It reduced me to tears. The elderly lose so much of their dignity in the eyes of the world as it is; we ought to revere and accompany their decline with love and delicacy, covering their decline with tender respect, as Noah son covered his father's nakedness. The man who kissed her hand with reverence and love at the beginning had …More

The man who kissed her hand with reverence and love at the beginning had the right spirit.

We are all reduced to utter poverty before God before we pass on to eternity, It evokes deep and probing thoughts of man's heart. "Remember man that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return...."

Reminds me of the old 'skipping rope' sung rhyme; "O dear what can the matter be? Three old ladies got locked in the lavatory. They were there from Monday to Saturday, nobody knew that they were there,"

Or this: Three sisters age 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together. One night the 96 year old draws a bath, puts her foot in and pauses. She yells down the stairs, "Was I getting in or out of the bath?" The 94 year old yells back, "I don't know, I'll come up and see." She starts up the stairs and pauses, then she yells, "Was I going up the stairs or coming down?" The 92 year old was sitting at …More

She starts up the stairs and pauses, then she yells, "Was I going up the stairs or coming down?" The 92 year old was sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful." She knocks on wood for good measure. She then yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door."
