Francis' Main Legacy Are Unsuitable, Bad Bishops

On 22 April, ElWanderer.com wrote that one of the most painful legacies of Francis’s pontificate was the bishops he left the Church.

In Argentina, Francis appointed 67 bishops, choosing them from among priests who lacked the most basic and essential qualities.

On at least three occasions, Francis appointed bishops in Argentina who accepted the nomination but then renounced their consecration weeks later. The rumoured reason was 'skeletons in the closet'.

The same happened with the failed Indonesian bishop, Pascalis Syukur: he was chosen as a cardinal by Bergoglio in 2024, gladly accepted the designation, but resigned a few days later. It later emerged that he had been in a romantic relationship with a woman with whom he had two children.

It seems likely that Francis appointed bishops from among priests he found personally agreeable or with whom he had some affinity.

ElWanderer gives another example. All of the Jesuits who formed the Bergoglian group in the 1980s are now bishops.

During his time as provincial and later rector of the Colegio Máximo, Bergoglio ensured that as many religious congregations as possible sent at least one candidate to study there. Once ordained, these men became unofficial 'correspondents' (or, according to some, spies) of Bergoglio within their respective institutions. Many of them are now bishops.

Archbishop of Buenos Aires

ElWanderer looks at a particular case: Archbishop Jorge García Cuerva of Buenos Aires.

Born in 1968, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Lomas de Zamora in 2017 before being transferred to Río Gallegos in southern Patagonia and finally to Buenos Aires in 2023.

According to clergy from San Isidro, Francis chose a priest whose ordination had been delayed by his bishop. ElWanderer does not provide a reason.

García maintained close friendships with some of the most corrupt politicians and defenders of the worst causes, such as the legalisation of abortion, as evidenced by his photos with Malena Galmarini (pictured).

In 2014, he was at the centre of a scandal when he baptised the children of a well-known transvestite.

In 2021, a Salesian priest in his diocese celebrated the 'marriage' of a transvestite and another man. The priest received only a warning.

Another serious issue is García Cuerva’s "evident appetite for money".

How Francis used the episcopacy to promote friends and punish enemies

I suspect the followers of their new religion, and Conciliarism most certainly Is a new religion, would absolutely disagree. Virtually all post-Vatican II appointees are faithfully following the false and heretical teachings of the Second Vatican Council.

I'd say mostly since Sebastiano Baggio, but not at the scale of Bergoglio

Each modernist builds on the ruins of his predecessor. They only get worse as the Overton Window shifts.

Seriously? Since John XXIII the pope's main legacy has been exactly the same.
