Salt and light February 9 2020 IV Sunday of O.T. Dear brothers and sisters, the passage from the Gospel of Matthew that we will listen on Sunday, February 9, helps us to answer a question that we Christians, personally, but above all as Church, Mystical Body of Christ, often ask ourselves when we reflect about the methodology we should follow. to allow Jesus to free, through us, humanity from the tremendous risk of being corrupted and "rotting" forever in the dark prison of sin. Put it in other words, in Gospel style I’d say: what must we do to be salt of the earth and light of the world? The answer, which comes to us from Christ himself, is to be joyful witnesses of His Gospel not so much and not above all with words, but with our life, with the example of good works. Interesting enough in this regard is to note, dear brothers and sisters, that the "methodology" used by the Witness has a great affinity with the modern language of the new media. The Witness can be "seen in action". The values are not abstract, but visible in the examples of his life. The strength of the example lies in its brevity and incisiveness; first of all it involves the heart, the feelings, the emotions and only later the intelligence, with its effort of reflection, deepening and rationalization. In fact, the witness does not use the language of logic, but the fast and narrative language of the facts which is capable of evoking the mystery and nostalgia of the good Father and, awakening faith, is able to make people experience right here and right now the joy of the Father's embrace of light.
